A day late

Sophie was 8 months old yesterday! I had to work, then we had a date, so she didn't get her picture taken until 10 last night. She's usually in bed by 7 or 7:30, but not last night. Matt's mom and sister were watching her and they must be pretty fun to hang out with because she wanted nothing to do with that sleep stuff. She's crawling all over, wanting to stand all day, eating everything she lays her eyes on and just started waving and saying this weird scream version of hello. It's really cute; every time she waves she does the scream, she's just not able to get the correct word out yet.
Her "rat tail" is getting so long I can braid it. Goodness, she's just too cute!

Swim Lessons!

Sophie started swim lessons today! She had so much fun. We played splash mom and dad in the face, kick the water, lay on your back, grab toys, and tried to teach her to "jump" into the water. She did really well and laughed at the other kids when they would splash around. I just love her swimsuit! I wish they had one in my size...I'm without suit, so I was the only geek in a t-shirt.
She kind of acts like she just wants me to let go so she can take off. We tried blowing bubbles in the water, but that didn't go over well. She swallowed some nasty, germ-infested water and choked...so I don't think she'll be paddling on her own anytime soon.

P.S. She started crawling this week. And standing at the table and pulling items off...maybe I'll be able to fit into a swimsuit after chasing her for a couple of weeks!

Snow days!

Since we live in Oklahoma and the state closes down anytime there is a snowflake, Matt was off work Mon - Wed. We had a good time relaxing, watching movies, and playing in the snow. Not really playing in it, but looking at it. So, Sophie and I were watching one of her favorites - Praise Baby, and Matt caught this on camera. How stinkin' adorable is this. Her newest thing is to stop playing, turn around and hug me, then go back to playing. I love it! Anyway, here she is being super sweet... Then...ATTACK!!
Out of nowhere she tramples me and strips my glasses off

Sophie's first time to hang out in the snow. Poor thing, her outfit was so snug she couldn't move. She couldn't even sit down to play with the snow.

Another boyfriend

Meet Mr. Caleb, another boyfriend. Caleb and his parents came over the other night for hot chocolate and cookies. The two of them had a dandy time biting and licking toys, screaming, rolling, and standing at the music table. This would be the screaming part of the night...in unison of course.
I guess one of these days I'll need to teach Sophie that the boy is supposed to kiss you on the hand, or lick/bite, whatever. I don't think Caleb minded, though.

Daddy - O

Sophie has been having so much fun with her daddy lately. It's fun watching them together and she has so much Swift in her...a lot more than I had originally thought. They sleep like each other, make the same weird noise in their throat, watch ball games on TV together, scream when they don't get their way.... I was cooking supper the other day when out of nowhere Sophie came flying around the corner in her baby's buggy. She was having so much fun - after she figured out what was going on.
Is she not one of the cutest things you've ever seen?!!
Last week I had an interview and Matt took off the afternoon to hang out with Sophie. He gave me time afterwards to get a manicure and pedicure and do some shopping. It was such a nice break! I came back feeling renewed, and my feet felt fabulous! It was so nice outside so Sophie and daddy did some yard work, then took it easy. And when I say "easy", I mean very easy! I drove up and Matt was lying on his back with his eyes closed. Sophie was just staring at him and I thought he'd open his eyes when I shut the car door. Nope, sound asleep! Thankfully Sophie isn't mobile yet. Don't worry, Cruz was watching out for Sophie (that was Matt's argument when he got scolded).

I'm...so...tired!

and that is why I haven't posted lately. I don't know what to do with my daughter. She just doesn't sleep. When she was 2 months old everyone said she'd sleep at 3 months. Didn't happen. Then they said when she hits 12 #s, 15#s - nope. Then when she hits 5 months she'll sleep 6-8 hours. Ha. Then when she starts solids she'll sleep; the girl eats 3 solid meals a day and not sleeping. Well, what about giving her cereal at night, a warm bath, more milk...we do it and it doesn't make a difference. Well, what if she's over-tired - don't you think she's over-tired from not sleeping for 7 solid months (actually more like 13 months, she woke me up from my sleep every night at 11pm on the dot when she was in the womb)?!!?? Do you have her on a schedule - yes, from the beginning. I've read Babywise and Baby Whisperer and followed all the rules/guidelines/suggestions. Nothing works. So, last Tuesday she woke up every 30 minutes. Then on Wed. she woke up every 3 -4 hours, which was wonderful because I actually got a little sleep. Then on Thurs. she didn't even go to sleep until 3 am and then woke up at 5, 7, and 9. That was fun times. But even more fun was Friday night when she woke up at 2 am and stayed wide awake until 6. Last night was every 2.5 hours. I'm at my wit's end. Does anyone have a similar experience? Suggestions?? - other than all the aforementioned, because, really - I've tried everything and with no sleep for 7 months I really would not like to hear/see something I've already tried. I don't mean to sound hateful, I JUST NEED HELP!!!
So, enjoy all the blogs I've been meaning to post...

Boyfriends

Sophie has had a few playdates lately. She hangs out with boys mostly, there aren't very many girls her age. But, I don't think she minds. We just found out today our good friends down the street will be having a girl in June, so she'll have someone to bond with that will be around her age. We are so excited! Sophie hung out with Graham, Holden, and Michael today. She was pretty fussy - she decided to not take her morning nap, or eat breakfast, or sleep during the night, but that's not anything new. But, put her in front of the camera with some boys and she's all smiles. Trying to get close to Graham for a snapshot.
Graham (9 weeks), Sophie (7 mo), Holden (9 mo), and Michael (2 years)

My good friend To came to visit with her husband, Dante and little boy, Canaan. He's 11 months and walking around everywhere like a big boy! I think Sophie enjoyed watching him move about.

Momma Sophie

I think I mentioned in the Christmas blog that Sophie got a Cabbage Patch Kid. Well, she is just Little Miss Mom. Every morning when we get up, we go to the living room to play and the first thing she does is give Mackenzie Toni (I know, nice name) a hug and kiss.
Her kisses are so big and slobbery, lucky baby.
P.S. Isn't this a cute outfit. She dressed up for the Sooner beating a couple of weeks ago.
She even has MT play with her during the day.

Guess What...
