Just some pictures

We haven't done much this week. Just taking it easy and being lazy. I had some funky stomach virus from Sat. night until Tues. so we haven't been too active. But, here are some fun pictures from the week.

Miss Sophie had a big day of playing yesterday. I think it's because she slept so well the night before!! She slept from 11 pm til 4:30 am, then 5 am til 8 am!! I was so excited...so we played a lot! She hates tummy time, but did really well yesterday, and only screamed for about 2 minutes! Then, we read 3 books!! One was the Bible and she is so cute when we read it. She coos and babbles like she's reading along with me. I think she must like the black print on the white page. She also held her rattle for the first time yesterday (ok, she's not superbaby...I put the rattle in her hand, but she held on to it...good
enough for me!).
So, after all of that playing we had our friends Jay and Brady over for supper. She was a good girl - no pooping on anyone's lap. But, it was a close call. Brady was almost sure she was getting dumped on, but it was mainly gas! Sophie fell asleep in my arms while we were all talking and I thought she'd have a hard time sleeping during the night again. But she didn't!!! She had the same sleeping pattern last night! Please pray that she continues this way, because I'm really loving this!

I'm 2 months old today!!

I can't believe I'm 2 months old already! Mommy and daddy can't believe it either! Time sure flies when you're having fun...and you're sleep deprived! I've been such a blessing to my family these past 2 months - can't wait to see what the rest of my beautiful life will be like!

Curly Top

I love how Sophie's hair gets curly after a bath! I wish it would stay that way all day! Maybe she'll have curly hair like her momma!

(Look at those rolls!!)

The One and Only...

HYDRO FREE FAIR!!!
Yes, we drove from OKC to attend the Hydro fair. But, Sophie had to experience it!! I think she had the same opinion as her daddy - not a big fan! Maybe a better time next year.
Here are the pictures we snapped of her while on the train. That sucker was fast!!

Pretty Pictures

While we were in Weatherford Daddy took some pretty pictures of Miss Sophie in Giddie and Momma Jo's backyard. We cooked out and had some wonderful burgers. Sophie had an upset stomach, so I was up with her and when she saw the pretty blooms she calmed down. He's quite the photographer!

We thought everything was ok with her tummy, so Aunt Skye took her and was holding her in her lap when lo and behold....it sounded like a bomb went off!! Sophie pooped so much in one push that it went flying through her diaper and bloomers and on to Skye's lap and down on to the floor. It was pretty impressive! She felt much better after that!

Saturday Fun

We had a very fast, but enjoyable weekend. Sophie is getting to the point where Matt finds her more interesting (thank goodness!!) and it's really cute watching him play with her. Sat. morning Sophie got up around 7 and I fed her then asked Matt to watch her for a couple of hours so I could catch up on sleep. I get about 4-5 hours a night in between feedings and her grunting and groaning all night. Anytime he'll watch her so I can snooze is a blessing! After I woke up we went to Panera, which is always good. Then Giddie, Momma Jo, Aunts Sloane and Skye, and Uncle Sutton came over. We went to Chick-fil-a....a tasty treat. They all went shopping while we came back to the house to hang out. This is what we did the rest of the afternoon.

Is she not the cutest little booger? She always closes her eyes when we are outside, but these cute sunglasses really work! She was looking all over and really enjoying herself!

I thought this was hilarious! Poor thing is quite the chub - o!

Sophie spending time with Daddy and Cruz. She loves to read!

After play time with Daddy and a quick nap, the grandparents came back over to babysit while Matt and I had our first date since Sophie. We went to BJ's and had wonderful potato skins and yummy pizza. We were so tired we didn't do anything else! But, it was nice to get out and stuff our faces!

Her Smiles

Are contagious!

Sophie started smiling at a little less than 3 weeks. But, it was never at anyone or anything, just little smirks here and there, and even in her sleep. This picture is her very first REAL smile. She was in her swing and I was being goofy ( I was never this goofy before becoming a mom) and she just had the biggest grin. This is one of about 4 smiles she flashed this day. It was July 10, Matt's first day back at work. How sad that he missed it!

She hasn't stopped smiling since!

Sophie's first time to go to church. Not a huge smile, but look how alert she was at only 3 weeks!

Sophie smiling at her Giddie being a goofball. I've never seen a grown man be such a mush. He's absolutely gone crazy since Sophie was born. But, she loves it. She smiles for him all the time and he gets her to poop by doing leg excercises! Maybe that's why she always smiles at him.

Pretty smile during play time.

She is able to see and focus on some of her books now (6 weeks). We read this one the other day for the first time and she just grinned and even started cooing and giggling at it. It might have been the cutest moment I've seen since birth!

I Like to Sleep!

Anytime, anywhere! Sophie loves to sleep, but it's never for a very long period. But, she can fall asleep anywhere. Moses basket, couch, swing, carseat (she actually slept in her carseat at night for about a week), lap, chest, sling, etc., etc. She likes to be swaddled, but can't stand for her arms to be in the blanket. She also looks a lot like her mommy when she sleeps...mouth wide open.

Wonderful Grandparents

Sophie is blessed to have two sets of wonderful grandparents. Matt's mom and dad, Ann and David, were able to come and stay a week after Sophie was born. It was really a blessing to have them here to help out. My parents, Paul and Jo, only live an hour away so they are able to visit often. Sophie is going to be one spoiled little girl!
Names are still up in the air...I guess we are just waiting to see what Sophie is going to call each one. She's the first grandbaby on both sides. My dad is the exception. He's Giddie - grandpa in Lebanese. He's trying to get my mom to be a Sittie - grandma in Lebanese, but I don't see it. I like Momma Jo or Jo Jo...any suggestions?

Sophie's First Week at Home

Here are a few snapshots of Sophie's first week home. I'm glad I have these because I don't remember much - drugs, no sleep, etc.

Better Late Then Never!

I finally decided to do a blog after saying I'd never do one. I wanted friends and family to be able to see and share some of the things I get to experience with Sophie everyday. So, I'm only a month and a half behind...but I'll try to catch everyone up.
Sophie arrived June 20, 2008 at 5:10 p.m. I was in labor for 6 hours before the doctors decided it was best for a c-section. Sophie's heart rate would drop and I wasn't dilating, so she got here safely. She was born with a head full of hair and looked just like a Simon (she looks like her daddy now!). Here are some of the pictures of our big day (sorry about my fat face - it just swelled overnight!!)

Looks like she's ready to eat right out of the womb
